‘An umbrella term describing a person's attraction to other people. A person's sense of identity based on their attractions, or lack thereof.’ Stonewall This term should be used rather than the outdated ‘sexual preference’ which ‘is typically used to suggest that being attracted to the same sex is a choice and therefore can and should be "cured."
